Wow, it’s been a busy month of special music hasn’t it? Each Sunday this month there’s been special Christmas music and there’s been special Christmas programs and services. I love so many things about the Christmas season! I love the music, the lights and decorations, the special gatherings with family and friends and giving gifts. I love sharing the love of Jesus through every part of the celebration.
Our special musical programs are all about celebrating our Savior and sharing His love with the world. We are so tuned in to that during the Christmas season – But what about the rest of the year? Shouldn’t we be sharing the story of Christmas with others all throughout the year?
During this time of year, many people look for someone in need or a family in need and they gather gifts and take to them – But what about the rest of the year? Shouldn’t we be aware of meeting the needs of the poor all throughout the year? It does seem like the joy of the Season spurs on us to do good for others – but what about the rest of the year? Hebrews 10:24 says, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works” (ESV).
Let’s encourage one another to spread the love of Christmas, the love of Jesus, all throughout the year!
Now, you may have been scheduled to sing the special music the last Sunday in December. And you have chosen several different songs to possibly sing, just to hear someone else sing those songs throughout the month.
If you find yourself in that situation, I have a few songs to suggest to you. These are songs that may be a little more obscure but great songs to sing!
Also, many churches have New Year’s Eve services. If you need a song for that I have a couple of suggestions also.
