Getting Out of the Tight Spot

Have you had days in your music ministry when you feel like you have so much to do that you just have to let something go? When you’re in that tight spot it may seem like the only thing you can get out of is singing at church.

I’ll offer you some encouragement from God’s Word to remain faithful in your music ministry and in your walk with the Lord. Have you ever read the book of Ruth in the Bible? Because of Ruth’s commitment and faithfulness to her mother-in-law Naomi, and to Naomi’s God, she was blessed. Because of her faithfulness, God provided for her needs and led her to her future husband.

Are you wondering what this has to do with your singing commitments? Well, there are truths in the book of Ruth that we can apply to the music ministry God has called you into. In Ruth 2, Ruth went out into the fields of Boaz after the reapers had gleaned the wheat from the fields to pick up the leftovers and take them home for food.

Ruth didn’t realize that because of her reputation of faithfulness to her mother-in-law, Naomi, Boaz not only gave her permission to glean from his fields, but he also told his reapers to drop sheaves of grain for her to pick up. Boaz wanted the reapers to purposefully drop grain for her – to leave handfuls on purpose.

So, when Ruth had come for the little bits of grain to gather, she found handfuls to take home for food. I love that! The blessings were the handfuls of grain that were left by the reapers for her to find. And, the reason for this blessing, this reward from the Lord, was her faithfulness.

God rewards faithfulness! Let’s never forget that. Be reminded that God sees the work you’re doing, and He rewards faithfulness. Look for the handfuls on purpose that He has for you each day and continue to faithfully serve Him.
